Collages by Gareguin Zakoyan

The Muscari association presented the exhibition of collages by Gareguin Zakoyan from April 5 to 29, 2017 at the Tour Rose gallery in Lyon, France.
A recognized movie critic, scriptwriter, documentary filmmaker, author of a dozen films, monographs, articles and essays, Gareguin Zakoyan has been inspired by graphic art throughout his artistic life.
The collages of Gareguin Zakoyan represent a sort of game of intelligence and quotations, where the composition uses postage stamps, pieces of letters and wallpaper, tickets, rags of various fabrics, fragments of images from films or pictures, press clippings, pieces of broken objects from everyday life with their own texture and biography. All this contributes to the rough revelation of a new semantics of the objects that make the ordinary of the world and of our life.
Take any collage of Zakoyan, and you are immersed in a world that exists only there, thanks to the magic of overlays. It is because each collage offers infinite possibilities to those overflowing with imagination and aesthetic initiative. Especially when these superimpositions of iconic quotes multiply and saturate the frame until they find a balance. Because balance must crown the initiative with dynamisation. Without this balance, the ecosystem of the composition remains unresolved, below its cosmetic completion.
