GYUMRI CERAMICS
On the initiative of the Family Care Foundation and the Muscari Association, a craft workshop of ceramics was created in 2014 in the city of Gyumri (Armenia), in the tradition of Kütahya Armenian potters.
The originality of this approach lies in its ambition to put art at the service of the resurgence of a spoliated past and the economic development of a city devastated by the terrible earthquake of 1988 and the vagaries of the economic crisis.
It allows the inhabitants of Gyumri, the affected, to reconnect with gestures and a tradition of authentically Armenian craftsmanship, dating back five centuries. It thus contributes to their reappropriation of an original culture, annihilated in 1915.
